Event Update – August 25, 2020

The 2020 Seeley Lions Virtual PreFat Mountain Bike Race has been completed! It was a very successful event with 129 registered riders. Most have submitted their results and photos that are available here.

We’ve received very positive comments and are happy that everyone enjoyed the course and being part of the PreFat.

Donations have topped $4,000 that’s going to help us conduct and fund our many local community projects. Thanks to all our generous rider/donors! You should be receiving your custom 2020 Virtual PreFat T-shirts and masks in the near future. We continue to welcome donations that can be mailed to us at the address listed at the bottom of this page.

Four Big 2020 Virtual Events

25 Mile EXPERT Race


A fast, technical and physically challenging race course, for the advanced skilled and conditioned rider.

17 Mile SPORT RaceSawmill

A fast, less technical, yet challenging course for the moderately skilled and conditioned rider. .

10 Mile CITIZEN Race

A less technical, rolling course for beginner to moderately skilled and conditioned riders.



The Fat Bike race on a fast, less technical, yet challenging course for moderate to highly skilled and conditioned riders using the “Sport Course”.

2020 Virtual PreFat Event Information:

Virtual Event Format, Results and Photos:

  • Parking, Start and Finish information can be found below.
  • All three courses will be marked no later than Thursday, August 13 with arrows indicating that it is the PreFat course. Don’t be confused by other event signs that may be present.
  • Stay alert as other riders and/or vehicles may be on the course. The trails and roads are not closed to other traffic!
  • Choose the race distance you prefer, 10 mile Citizen, 17 mile Sport or Fat Bike, or 25 mile Expert. Course information and maps can be found below.
  • All races start in a parking lot on the South side of CTH OO at the American Birkie trailhead on OO about 3 miles east from Seeley.
  • All races finish is the new Kortelopet Ski Race start field also located south of CTH OO, about 1/4 mile East from the start line.
  • You may complete your event at anytime from Friday, Aug 14 to Sunday, Aug 23. Please register HERE, but there is no registration fee for the event. Ride solo or with family and friends keeping socially distant where appropriate.
  • Carry your own water and energy as there are no Aid Stations on course. There is no medical or mechanical support. If you have a medical emergency, call 911.
  • Ride at your own pace and ability. The idea is to have fun!
  • Take a photo or two during your race either on course or at the finish line.
  • After you’ve completed your race, please email your “result” to us at info@seeleylions.org. We need the following information:
    1. Your Name
    2. Address
    3. Age
    4. The race you rode (10 mile Citizen, 17 mile Sport or Fat Bike, or 25 mile Expert)
    5. The date you rode
    6. Your riding time (Hours:Minutes:Seconds)

Cut and paste the above numbered ride information into your email and add your specific data.

  • You may also include one photo from your ride
  • The deadline for submission of your result is Monday, August 24
  • You may ride the course(s) more than once, but PLEASE only submit one result and one photo. Use your best ride!!
  • We will then publish all results and photos on this PreFat website. Sorry, but there are no awards beyond the fun you’ll have completing the event on these great trails.

Registration Information:

Riders are required to register, but due to the format of this year’s Virtual PreFat, we are not charging a registration fee. We just want you to enjoy our wonderful trails and have a fun day! You can register HERE.

We Do Need Your Help:

The Seeley Lions PreFat Event is our major annual fundraiser. These funds allow us to carry out several projects, including building a new warming cabin that is open to the public, making improvements to Silverthorn Park, as well as many activities for the benefit of our community. We are not charging a registration fee for the 2020 Virtual PreFat Race, but would greatly appreciate any donation you are able to provide to make these community support activities possible.

Any donation of $30 or more entitles you to a custom 2020 Virtual PreFat all cotton, pre-shrunk T-shirt and a custom Lion’s PreFat face mask so that you can protect yourself and others in style!!

The PreFat Event is our largest annual fundraiser. All funds are used to support our community service activities, including continued improvements to Silverthorn Park just north from Seeley, and construction of a new, public warming cabin on the Seeley Trails. We welcome and appreciate and additional donations you are able to provide to the Seeley Lions to help us continue these efforts!!
